APPLIED ART

Practitioners of Applied Art transform ideas into symbols to convey specific messages for the public. Designers are essential in the communication field since they device everything from logos to corporate identity. Linking supplier and consumers, the graphic designer conceives and executes ideas that elevate the image of sales. Photography and computer graphics are part of the course. The advertising business is the largest source of work for graphic designers and continuing growth of this media foster future opportunity in the ever widening arena of commercial art. Degrees available in the stream are B.V.A. and M.V.A.

 

Career Options :

Applied art graduates secure employment in the field of animation, advertising agency, publishing house, newspapers and media, art direction, visualising and developing concepts, rendering or designing illustrations, preparing layouts, specifying type and creating finished artwork and graphic design. Most of our graduates have joined advertising agencies, multinational companies and educational institutions.

Holds a BFA Applied Art, College of Fine Arts (1987), MFA Post Graduation in Applied Art, M.S. University, Baroda (1990). Ph.D from Manasa Gangotri, Mysore University.
He has participated in All India Exhibition, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (1985, 86), several photographic exhibition by Photographic Society and other Photography Salons in National and International level. He also received All India Exhibition Award (1985 &1987) and awarded in 4th All India Photo Exhibition organized by AIFACS (1997), New Delhi. Awarded National Award, Lalitkala Academy, New Delhi (1998), Karnataka Lalithkala Academy state award (2014), Participated in several shows, exhibitions and workshops in India and abroad. His works are in collections in India and abroad.
He is currently a Professor in the Dept of Applied Art

Dr. Nagappa B. Badiger

Holds an MFA (Applied Art, CFA) He has participated in several exhibitions like ‘Teacher’s Eye’ (2004, 05), U.G.C National Workshop, (2007, 09), ‘Teacher’s Day Art Exhibition’ (2008), He has designed Logo’s for several universities and has also worked with reputed architects in drawing Architectural Perspective Drawings. He has been the Controller of Examinations from 2007 and he has also been the Academic Council Member.
He has also participated in several Workshop, Seminars and Conferences.

Associate Professor

Holds a B.F.A and M.F.A from Applied Art from College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. He has worked as Publicity Designer for Kannada Film Industry (1989-91) and has also won the Kannada Chitra Rasikara Sangha Awarded for ‘Best Publicity Designer’ (1989).
He is currently Lecturer at Dept. of Applied Arts.

Sri. Babu Jattakar

Holds an MFA (C.F.A 1992) and B.F.A (C.F.A 1989). He has held several solo and group shows like 50th year Independence, M.S.Nanjundarao Felicitation’, ‘Teachers Eye’ (2004). He has also had Two men show in Painting and Drawing at the State Gallery of Fine Art (Indian Art Gallery), Hyderabad (2008). He has designed and executed Photography Museum on Upper Krishna Project at Cultural Sector, Navanagar, Bagalkot (2005). He is also the Member of Karnataka Cartoonist Association, Bangalore.
He has received All India Art Exhibition Award (1st Prize) conducted by Navarang Art Academy, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh (2009).
His works are in Private collections in India and abroad.

 Holds a Master in Applied Arts, Diploma in Printing Technology from S.J.P, Bangalore (1988). He has participated in several group shows like 50th year Independence, ‘M.S.Nanjundarao Felicitation’, ‘Teachers Eye’ (2004, 08), U.G.C national Workshop (2007, 09). 59th National Exhibition Lalit Kala Akademi – New Delhi, 41st Annual Art Exhibition , Participated in International Artist / Teachers Camp during Jan 2017-2018,  Karnataka State Lalita Kala Academy 2012-13He has been the Design Committee (Graphic Design and Printing) for Chitra Sante and C.F.A activities. He holds a good working experience in Serigraphy medium.

He is a senior doctrate holder in visual arts, awarded in the year 2014 and completed his post graduation in Applied Art, College of Fine Arts in Karantaka Chitrakala Prarishath. He served in Chitrakala institute of advanced studies, P.G. and Research Center in Appllied Art department as H.O.D. since 1996. At present teaching in Post graduate and Under graduate in College of Fine Arts. He is a recipient of Chief Minister Award. Attended many national and international confrences, published books, apart from this he had industral experience of Advertising agency, attended many Artist camps. His areas of intrests are Art direction, Photography, Interior design. He is a coordinator for sports, NSS, short term courses.
