PAINTING

The Department of Painting aims to have practical and conceptual skills. It answers individual need, promotes research in the professional field apart from providing ample opportunities to relate art to the real world. The study of Painting aims at fine-tuning the creative abilities of a student. This very nature makes it an adaptable subject, providing plenty of scope to apply this creative aspect into various areas like portraiture, landscape, modern and contemporary language of painting. The student will realize that learning painting is also a way of defining his or her life in a different and unique way. Degrees available in this stream are B.V.A, M.V.A and P.G. Diploma.

Career Options :

Students will be able to apply creative thinking & perceptions in various professions as a visualiser, mural designer, advertiser, animator, publicist, printer, multimedia artist, pedagogician and not but not least, as an independant creative artist.

Holds M. Fine (Painting), Kala Bhavan, Visvabharati, Santiniketan (1990). She has had Solo Shows at Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore (2001) and Crimson, Bangalore (1999), a Duo show at The Easel Art Gallery, Chennai (1999). She has participated in group shows like State ‘Lalitkala Academy’ (2009), ‘Art for Cause’ FORHD (2007, 03), in aid of CUPA, ‘Sketches for the Millenium’, Chennai (2000), ‘Harmony Show’, Nehru Center, Mumbai (1999, 98). She has also been the active participant of several camps like Lalitkala Academy camp(2006), The Chancery Art Camp (2000). Her works have been shown at London, New York, New Delhi and Chennai. She is currently the Reader at Dept. Of Painting

Holds a B.F.A (1990) and M.F.A (1993) degree in Painting from College of Fine Arts. He has been a participant of State level Painting Exhibition (1990), Conducted Painting workshop for children at MICO Fine Arts Club (1999), ‘Kargilgagi Karnataka’ Fund Raising Art Exhibition (1999), National Artist Camp and Exhibition at C.K.P (2001),Tsunami Artist Camp (2005), He was also a part of ‘Kannada Habba’ organized by Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Bangalore (2009), ‘Teachers eye’ Painting Workshop and Exhibition on the occasion of Teachers Day at CFA (2008), National Workshop at College of Fine Arts, organized by U.G.C (2007), ‘Landscape’ workshop conducted at Cubbon Park (2007). He is currently Lecturer at Dept. of Painting.

He holds an MFA in Painting from Chitrakala Institute of Advanced Studies (2004) and BFA in Painting from CFA (1988). He has been part of several exhibitions like UGC Painting Workshop and Art Exhibition, (2008), ‘Kaleidoscope’, Kynkyny Art Gallery (2007), 47th Natinal Exhibition, Lalitakala Academy, Lucknow (2005), Fine Arts Executin, Fondacao Oriental Penjimin, Goa (2003), 71st All India Art Exhibition, AIFACS, New Delhi (1999). He has also been part of several camps organized jointly like Chitrakala Parishath and Centre for Contemporary Art Japan Foundation New Delhi by Japanese Artist Prof. Shinkhita Mora (1998). He has also been awarded Bharathi Excellence Award, Friendship Forum of India, New Delhi (2008), South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur (1999).

Holds an MFA (Painting, 1992, M.S. University, Baroda) & BFA (Painting, 1990, College Of Fine Arts, Bangalore University). He is a recipient of Gold Medal in South Zone Youth Festival award (Mysore & Madras, ’89, 90), College Annual Exhibition (’90), 14th All Indian Exhibition of Fine Arts (’92), Kalashetra Award (2008). Kempegowda Prashasthi (2012) by hon’ble Mr. SadanandaGowda Chief Minister of Karnataka, and hon’ble mayor Miss. Sharadamma  and Mr.M.K.ShankaralingeGowda. Commisioner of BBMP Bengaluru, Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar’s Award by Century Club, Bangalore (2008). He has held several solo and group shows that include Contemporary Sculptors’ Forum (KCP, 2006), Chennai (2006), ‘Teachers’ Eye’ (2002), KLKA (2000), KLKA (’97), Human Form & Art (LKA, New Delhi, ’97), National Exhibition (’91), Group show (baroda, ’92), Dasara (’88). His works are in several collections in India and abroad. Currently he is a Associate Professor in the Dept of Painting, CFA.

Holds a MFA in Painting from College of Fine Arts. He is has had a solo exhibition titled ‘Fish and Woman’ at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (2006). He has been part of several group shows like ‘Prathama’, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, (2008), ‘The Eye Within’, Kolkata (2008), Prof M.S.Nanjunda Rao felicitation (2000), National Defence Fund at CKP (1999), 16th All India Fine Arts Exhibition organized by CKP (1995), 26th Annual Exhibition organized by Karnataka Lalitkala Academy, Bengaluru (1995) are the ones to mention amongst several others. He has also participated in several camps and workshops at State and National level. Works are in private and public collections at Chennai, Bombay, and foreign countries like Sri Lanka, USA and Singapore. Currently he is Lecturer at Dept. of Painting.
